The Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko is pleased to announce that Bohdana Bashuk will be taking over from Lesia Szwaluk as Executive Director of the Shevchenko Foundation on July 1, 2019.
Ms Bashuk brings over 15 years of progressively senior experience in the not-for-profit sector in the areas of culture and heritage, most recently serving as Assistant Executive Director of the Shevchenko Foundation.
As the new executive head of the organization, Ms Bashuk will be responsible for the operations, human resources, and financial management of the Foundation’s operations, and the implementation of the Board’s vision and strategic plan.
“It is a distinct honour to be given the opportunity to provide leadership in the management of the Shevchenko Foundation”, stated Ms Bashuk. “More importantly, it is a privilege to be at the forefront of making positive differences in the endeavours of our artists, cultural and heritage institutions, and members of our Ukrainian Canadian community”.
Ms Bashuk is noted for her work in broadcasting, having completed eight years as host and moderator with WTN (Women’s Television Network) and 23 years as producer and on-air host with CKJS Radio Winnipeg. She has worked in the areas of culture and heritage, serving in senior management at Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Education Centre, Winnipeg. In 2013 she joined the Shevchenko Foundation management team.
Ms Bashuk is a member of the Board of Directors of Belgian-Alliance Credit Union, Winnipeg, serving at various times on its Audit and Risk Management Committee, as well as the Executive and Governance Committees.
Ms Bashuk succeeds Lesia Szwaluk, who is retiring from her role as Executive Director. The Board of Directors of the Shevchenko Foundation is immeasurably grateful to Ms Szwaluk for her 18 years of service, and for her successes in making the Foundation the premiere cultural and community funding agency for Ukrainians in Canada.
