Andrew Hladyshevsky Q.C.
Andrew Hladyshevsky is a Partner in the law firm Denton Canada and was appointed to the Queen’s Counsel in 2000. His professional work includes teaching Commercial Law, and he has published many books, practice manuals, and essay papers on the subject. Andrew joined the Shevchenko Foundation board in 1995 and served as its President for 23 years, growing it into one of the top philanthropic organizations in Canada. He was also Vice Chair of the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund Endowment Council and the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.
With a passion for singing, Andrew is a member of four choirs including the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America (1990 to present). He has also found time to volunteer for numerous organizations in a leadership capacity including the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton Concert Hall Foundation, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Ukrainian Professional & Business Club of Edmonton, and Ukrainian Professional Business Federation of Canada.
He has received numerous awards including the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, Award of Merit from President of Ukraine Victor Yuschenko, Ukrainian World Congress St. Volodymyr the Great Medal, Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alberta Provincial Council Hetman Award, Ukrainian Professional and Business Club of Calgary Lifetime Achievement Award and the University of Alberta Lifetime Alumni Award of Achievement.
