Gordon Gordey is recognized as one of the 100 most influential people in the development of theater in Alberta in Theatre 100: Celebrating 100 theatre practitioners over 100 years. He is an internationally recognized professional arts stage director, producer, and librettist/director of 25 original dance works for the Shumka Dancers.
Through his 20 years in provincial arts council work he participated in hundreds of arts juries, wrote government funding policies in theatre, film, and sound recording, and he produced the official performance welcome for Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II to the Alberta Centennial.
Gordon also worked for 17 years as an investigator and mediator for the Alberta Human Rights Commission. Committed to sharing his experiences, he taught acting, directing, and contemporary drama at Dalhousie and MacEwan universities for 40 years.
Gordon has been a member of the Shevchenko Foundation board of directors since 2012.
