Lesia Szwaluk appointed to the Manitoba Arts Council

The Shevchenko Foundation proudly congratulates Lesia Szwaluk, Executive Director of the Foundation, on her appointment to the Manitoba Arts Council.

The appointment was made July 7, 2017 by the Manitoba Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage, Rochelle Squires.

Established in 1965, the Manitoba Arts Council is funded through Manitoba Sport, Culture and Heritage and operates as an arm’s-length agency of government to administer grants to professional individuals and organizations in areas such as the literary, performing and visual arts, and education.  The 15 board members of the Council, appointed by the Manitoba government for a term, develop policy for the benefit of the arts and public of Manitoba.

With her extensive experience as Executive Director of the Shevchenko Foundation, Lesia Szwaluk will be a significant contributor to the work of the Manitoba Arts Council, bringing a wealth of knowledge in the field of granting to Manitoba’s arts communities.
