b'Worlds largest Ukrainian Easter egg exhibition,Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre, WinnipegMuseums play a critical role in preserving tangible cultural heritage. This includes religious artifacts, folk and fine art, textiles, and household implements. Museums also preserve documents, photographs, and other archival materials that provide historical context and background. The numerous treasures that are displayed in our museums have in many cases survived long journeys and have been gifted to museums for safekeeping. Thanks to the significant efforts invested by experts and volunteers to maintain these historical items, generations can research, learn, and connect with the past. The importance of museums (and, right now, Ukrainian museums in particular) is not simply to share our culture through exhibitions, but more importantly, to safeguard cultural heritage. Every artifact represents someones experiences, someones family, someones story - to receive these artifacts is an immense responsibility, and an even greater honour.
