Oryssia Lennie, C.M.

Deeply committed to public service in her professional career, Oryssia Lennie has had extensive experience at a leadership level in the federal and Alberta governments, including 12 years as Deputy Minister, Western Economic Diversification, Government of Canada and 7 years as Deputy Minister, Federal and Intergovernmental Affairs, Government of Alberta.

As a long-time resident of Edmonton and as a proud Ukrainian Canadian, Oryssia has been and is currently actively involved in a wide variety of policy and community organizations and boards in addition to her membership on the Shevchenko Foundation Board. These include the Edmonton Symphony (Chair), Canada West Foundation (Chair), Genome Alberta (Vice-Chair), Alberta Research and Innovation Authority (Chair), University of Alberta (Vice-Chair), Grant MacEwan University (Vice-Chair), and United Way Centraide Canada (Chair).

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Order of Canada in 2016 for her work in bridging relationships between the federal and provincial governments; the Peter Lougheed Award for Leadership in Public Policy, 2014; and the Lieutenant Governor’s Gold Medal for Excellence in Public Service, 2002.

Oryssia has been a member of the Shevchenko Foundation board of directors since 2017.
