Congratulations to Christine Kotowycz!
We’re excited to present the selected design for the 2025 Shevchenko Foundation Christmas card created by Pickering, Ontario, artist Christine Kotowycz.
The work is titled Snowy Christmas Eve in Kyiv (Засніжений Київ у Свят-Вечір).
An author and illustrator of children’s stories, Christine’s latest illustrations have evolved from traditional media to a blend of drawing and collage. The collage process resembles the quilting and fabric collages with which the artist has been experimenting.
Christine has always had a love for patterned fabrics and she has now discovered the beautiful Japanese Chiyogami silkscreen papers, which allow for the unique and unexpected juxtaposition of colours and patterns.
