August 24 marks the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine’s renewed independence.
As the war against Ukraine rages on, the Ukrainian people continue, in the face of genocidal aggression, to demonstrate their unwavering commitment to freedom, democracy, and the fundamental right of every Ukrainian to be Ukrainian.
Ukrainians are united in a powerful culture through which we share with the world the story of who we are, and our hopes and dreams for the future. We are grateful to Canadians who share our vision and continue to stand with Ukraine and its people.
We remember the children, women, and men whose lives have been tragically lost to Ukraine forever. We are grateful to the defenders of Ukraine who, with selfless courage, build the future.
In Canada, we are the cultural warriors. On this Independence Day let’s celebrate the invincible spirit from which we draw our strength and inspiration.
