The mission of the St. Volodymyr Cultural Association of Montreal is to champion the Ukrainian presence within Quebec, foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Ukrainian culture among a diverse audience, and to spotlight the invaluable contributions of Ukrainian-Canadians to Canadian society. In recent years, the Montreal Ukrainian Festival has evolved into a platform to celebrate Ukrainian culture and to raise awareness of the Ukrainian community in Canada and across the global diaspora.

What began as a modest one-day gathering in 1999, drawing just 600 visitors, has blossomed into a significant cultural event, attracting some 30,000 to 35,000 attendees from Montreal, its surrounding areas, eastern Ontario, and the northeastern United States. The festival’s appeal transcends boundaries, resonating not only within Montreal’s Ukrainian community but also captivating members of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Amidst the bustling crowds, comprising individuals of all ages, a wide variety of languages fill the air, reflecting the rich tapestry of Montreal’s multicultural landscape. Proudly, the festival stands as the largest Ukrainian cultural event in Quebec.
