The Shevchenko Foundation is pleased to announce that, following an extensive search process, Patricia Maruschak has been appointed its Executive Director, effective August 24, 2026. Patricia will replace Bohdana Bashuk, who has announced her retirement.

​Patricia Maruschak is a native of Winnipeg and has been active in the Ukrainian community from a young age.

Professionally, she has over twenty-five years of experience in senior management roles with Canadian and international organizations. 

“We look forward to welcoming Patricia to our management team. We are confident that her extensive experience with non-governmental organizations, particularly in Ukraine, coupled with her passion for Ukrainian cultural preservation, will complement the TSF team in furthering the evolution of Ukrainian Canadian culture within the Canadian experience,” stated TSF President Boris Balan.

Patricia has held positions with the Government of Canada, International Finance Corporation, Finn Church Aid and Canadian non-governmental organizations such as Canadian Lutheran World Relief and the Canadian Bureau for International Education.

She has managed teams responsible for international development and humanitarian assistance projects in Ethiopia, Uganda, DRC, South Sudan, CAR, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine and Myanmar.

From fall 2022 to spring 2026, Patricia served as the Ukraine Country Director for Finn Church Aid’s humanitarian programs. Based in Kyiv, she managed a team implementing projects that assisted Ukrainian teachers and students affected by the full-scale invasion.

Patricia is married and has two sons.
