After decades of Ukrainian Community concerns, in 1999 three groups finally arrived in unison to make a difference. Watch how the Taras Shevchenko Foundation with a 37 year history of Fund stewardship; and the Ukrainian Canadian Civil Liberties Association(UCCLA),a community advocacy group on internment redress throughout the 1990’s and beyond and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress(UCC) developed and executed a unified strategy to seek redress from the Federal Government. In 2008, the successful result of their efforts was the creation of a Fund that will leave a lasting influence in perpetuity honouring the legacy of the internees.  Click HERE to learn more from Andriy Hladyshevsky, Q.C., President of the Shevchenko Foundation on the successful efforts to create the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund.
