The Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko is pleased to announce the appointment of Orest Sklierenko to its Board of Directors.

In keeping with its mandate of transparent governance, accountability to its donors, and commitment to providing opportunities for renewal and growth, the Shevchenko Foundation posted an open call for nominations in March, 2016. Mr. Sklierenko (Toronto) was appointed to the Board effective July 1, 2016.

Mr. Sklierenko is a marketing and sales professional working in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. He has led two successful biotechnology product launches in the past five years, and most recently has created a new company.

In the Ukrainian community, he is actively involved in the areas of education and the arts through the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, national and local. He also has a long-term association with the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America, co-chairing its 100th Anniversary Committee, and has worked directly with the Shevchenko Foundation on various initiatives, including the establishment of a memorial fund within the Foundation.

At its meeting of June 17, 2016 in Winnipeg, the Shevchenko Foundation Board of Directors also bade farewell to two outgoing Directors – Sophia Kachor (Winnipeg) and Boris Balan (Toronto).

The Shevchenko Foundation Board of Directors is now comprised of Andrew Hladyshevsky, Q.C. (Edmonton) – President, Irka Mycak (Toronto) – Vice-President, Scott Armstrong (Winnipeg) – Secretary-Treasurer, Adrian Boyko (Saskatoon), Gordon Gordey (Edmonton), Lidia Narozniak (Hamilton), and Orest Sklierenko (Toronto).
